Q&A

Q. Where are you employed? What is your Title?

Memphis Redbirds, Game Entertainment Coordinator

Q. What is your favorite part of your job?

I enjoy the laid back, family competitive atmosphere in the office but the favorite part of my job is at the end of every day. I get to sit down and watch a baseball game from the best seat in the house in the press box.

Q. What do you consider to be your most valuable contribution to your organization for which you work?

I am one of very few females so I feel that being a female in this environment brings a different perspective that is a valuable contribution. But my organization and communication skills and my ability to multitask and stay cool under pressure are probably my most valuable contributions to my organization, specifically my department within the organization.

Q. Given your career path, where do you see yourself in 10 years?

Working in Game Entertainment for a major league ball club or transitioning into my second career.

Q. Do you have any words of advice/recommendations? a. for undergrads still searching for a major-would you recommend RST and why?, b. for the undergrads currently in the program c. for the senior currently looking for his/her first position.

a. Study something you enjoy doing, regardless of the size of paycheck you will make.
b. Of course. The curriculum is solid and the experience is second to none.
c. Get as much experience as you can in the field you want to be in. Don’t be afraid of something you don't like, try everything at least once.
d. Don't get discouraged when it takes you a little longer than ideal to find what you want. And don't settle for something you're "just ok" with. If it doesn't feel right, don't take it, something else will come up.

Q. Please add anything else that might be helpful.

I love my job and I'm glad I'm doing what I'm doing. I work a lot of hours and I don't make tons of money and the job is pretty stressful. But I enjoy the people I work with, what I do, and the game of baseball and I wouldn't trade it for anything. I doubt that I will do this for the rest of my life because there are other things I find more important and look forward to having a family one day. But in the meantime, I'm having a whole lot of fun.
