Q&A

Q. Where are you employed? What is your Title?

Premiere Global Sports
Sales Manager – College Division

Q. What is your favorite part of your job?

The best part of the job for me is the ability to work with various college institutions, athletic department staff, alumni staff, donors and fans. This position allows me to stay very connected with important contacts in the sports market.

Q. What do you consider to be your most valuable contribution to your organization for which you work?

I contribute in many areas of the company which in turn has made me somewhat valuable. My primary focus is product development and sales. I am currently working with school contacts across the country trying to get additional schools and current schools to participate in our sports travel packages. Lastly, my major daily activities include procuring and looking into all types of sports trips that would be of interest to our clients.

Q. Given your career path, where do you see yourself in 10 years?

I see myself somewhere in the sports business as it relates to fan travel, school travel, or even corporate travel. Ideally, I would see myself being the head of a division within our nationwide company at Premiere Global Sports.

Q. Do you have any words of advice/recommendations? a. for undergrads still searching for a major-would you recommend RST and why?, b. for the undergrads currently in the program c. for the senior currently looking for his/her first position.

a) I think this major is a good fit for those seeking to do something they are passionate about in sport, recreation, or tourism. This field is more than just the title – you really can develop great strengths from this field that can make you a great candidate for a variety of jobs.
b) It is key to continue to work in the field and gain knowledge/relationships. I know everyone has heard it 400 plus times in class, but making relationships and continuing to make new connections throughout your concentration helps you down the road when looking for a job or recommendation.
c) Sell yourself!!! Use your strengths and sell yourself to organizations and those you have interned/worked for. My advice would be to go out and sell yourself as much as possible versus sitting back and thinking something will just come your way.
