Q. Where are you employed? What is your Title?
I am the Assistant Director of Fitness & Wellness in the Division of Recreational Sports at Purdue University.
Q. What is your favorite part of your job?
I enjoy the variety of dealing with things ranging from teaching new personal trainers to helping with a $98 million renovation and expansion of our Recreational Sports Center.
Q. What do you consider to be your most valuable contribution to your organization for which you work?
I am constantly striving to increase our efficiency and productivity, while maintaining a fun work environment.
Q. Given your career path, where do you see yourself in 10 years?
No idea.
Q. Do you have any words of advice/recommendations? a. for undergrads still searching for a major-would
you recommend RST and why?, b. for the undergrads currently in the program c. for the senior currently looking for his/her
first position.
a & b. try to get a job or internship working in the field as early as possible. This is a great learning experience and will help
you determine if you enjoy working in this field.
c. If you are having trouble finding a job, take on an internship. However, be selective and make sure that it is one that will provide you with
quality learning experiences and professional contacts. Ask to speak to previous interns to hear about their experience.
