Q&A
Q. Where are you employed? What is your Title?
Attorney and Judicial Law Clerk, Supreme Court of Indiana. Indianapolis, IN.
Q. What is your favorite part of your job?
Learning from an excellent judge and mentor as well as being a court of last resort. I am learning so many areas of the law
and improving my legal writing and analytical skills.
Q. What do you consider to be your most valuable contribution to your organization for which you work?
Bringing a critical eye and my life experiences to the way I see difficult legal issues.
Q. Given your career path, where do you see yourself in 10 years?
In ten years, I see myself being a successful litigator, entrepreneur, activist, and possibly an elected official.
Q. Do you have any words of advice/recommendations? a. for undergrads still searching for a major-would
you recommend RST and why?, b. for the undergrads currently in the program c. for the senior currently looking for his/her
first position.
My best advice to undergrads would be to follow your dreams and do what makes you happy! Life is too short to waste valuable time and
energy being miserable in a job you are not passionate about. Seek out your truest self and consult with that inner intelligence early and
often and find your path. It will happen for you. The only way you don't get answers is if you're not asking questions. I am a proud
graduate student alum of the department and obtained my Master's in 2001. I used my time in the department to develop some of the skills
and acquire some of the knowledge I needed to make me successful. I networked, I traveled, I was active on campus, I served as a graduate
assistant in the department and I served on the search committee for a chair of our department. I took every opportunity to challenge myself by
taking extra coursework outside of the department and challenged myself to be excellent in all that I did. I did not take "no" for an answer and
I was pro-active in my job search. While I am not currently practicing in the sports industry, I did work for one of the premier sports management
firms in the world, Octagon, for several years out of grad school. Many people, many employers may tell you "no", but be not dissuaded or dejected.
Press on and good things will happen for you, remember that "winners never quit and quitters never win!"
