What are your general impressions of your studies and RST as a whole?

All of my RST courses up until this point in my academic career have been challenging, engaging, and rewarding. I enjoy the fact that the material covered in my core classes is so diverse, allowing me to explore many aspects of the sport management industry including marketing, leisure activities, human behavior, and law. On a daily basis, it's the small classroom experience and approachable professors that sets RST apart from other majors on campus.

What has been your most interesting experience at the University of Illinois?

Of the many interesting and exciting experiences that I have had at Illinois, I would say rushing the court after the 09-10 men's basketball team beat Michigan State tops them all. It was a long day after arriving at Assembly Hall at about 6:30am to attend ESPN's College Gameday taping, but it couldn’t have ended better than beating a Big 10 rival in a nationally televised and hard fought game.

What are your post-graduation plans?

After graduation I plan to attend law school. Although I am not yet sure what area of law I want to concentrate in, there is a distinct possibility that I will utilize what I have learned in RST and pursue sport law. Illinois is my top choice in schools, although attending a school on the West coast is not a bad second option.

What extracurricular activities/student organizations are you involved with?

The most important and rewarding extracurricular activity that I am a part of is the Illini Service Dog Training Program. We are currently training 5 dogs that will all eventually be placed with a recipient through the MidAmerica Service Dogs Foundation. I am also on the board of October Lovers and am the Service Chair of the Applied Health Sciences Student Council.

What do you like to do for fun?

As my concentration in sport management may suggest, I am a huge sports fan. I always look forward to going to all of the Illini football and basketball games. I also like to go to Chicago Bears, Bulls, and Cubs games when given the opportunity. Besides attending sport games, I like to run, swim, and rollerblade to keep in shape. Apart from that, I like to take naps in between classes and hang out with my friends.

Why would you recommend RST and/or AHS to others?

I would recommend AHS, and RST in particular, to others because of the small class sizes, engaging professors, and the practicality of the material you will learn. AHS is like a small community within a large university, making it easy to know your professors and make a lot of friends along the way.
