Tiffany Webb

Tiffany Webb is a senior in the Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism, majoring in sport management.

What are your general impressions of the RST department and your studies?

The RST department is small compared to the rest of the campus, so I like the teacher-to-student ratio because it allows you to build professional and personal relationships.

What has been your best/most interesting/most beneficial experience within the department?

The best experience from the department to date would have to be taking the Leisure Planning course (RST 300) with LoriKay Paden. It gave me so much insight into all the details of planning an event from start to finish. It is something that I will always value. Our group created the Goofy Olympics for Leal Elementary School. We received great reviews and even made the front page of the Daily Illini.

What extracurricular activities and student organizations have you been involved with?

I serve as co-chair of the AHS Service Council Student Manager-University of Illinois varsity football team Tutor two second-grade children in the Champaign-Urbana Mannie L. Jackson Illinois Academic Enrichment and Leadership Program (I-LEAP) Program Scholar.

What are your post-graduation plans?

After graduation I would like to pursue a Masters in Advertising/Public Relations. My long-term goal is to become a publicist for professional athletes.

What do you like to do for fun?

I enjoy being creative. I make quilts, sew, and do a number of other projects involving arts and crafts. I also like getting outdoors and being active. This past June, I participated in the Warrior Dash in Joliet. The Warrior Dash is a 5k inside of an obstacle course. We jumped over fire, crawled in mud, and climbed barrels of hay and nets. It was 97 degrees and so much fun!

Why would you recommend the College of Applied Health Sciences and RST to others?

The College of AHS and RST have so much to offer students. The administration is so supportive and encouraging. Even during busier times in the semester, they have an open door and are always willing to assist and offer advice. I have had the chance to explore ideas and to see them put into action with the help of the AHS Staff. For example, I added a bake sale to the Service Week 2010. Not only did we raise $200.00 for the Crisis Nursery, we also had the support of the AHS faculty and staff….they made all the baked goods! I must admit, AHS is the best college...no competition!
