Research and Professional Interests
Liza Berdychevsky, Ph.D., focuses in her research on the matters of gender, sexual behavior, risk-taking, identity, and well-being in recreation and tourism contexts. Liza’s research reveals that women’s sexual risk-taking in tourism is a multidimensional and complex phenomenon, including physical, sexual health, social, emotional, mental/self-perception, and cultural aspects.
Liza’s research findings contribute to the development of a deeper understanding of the perceptions of and motivations for sexual risk-taking in tourism vis-à-vis everyday life. In turn, this increased understanding offers directions for health programs and/or information campaigns aimed at addressing sexual risk behaviors in different leisure and travel contexts.
