Research and Professional Interests

Chris Green studies the intersection of sport and development. Her work examines the growth and development of sport programs and systems and their relationship to the development of individuals, groups, communities, and organizations. The intellectual aim of her work is to elaborate a model that identifies factors that facilitate or inhibit the development of sport at each level, and that describes the separate, cumulative, and interactive effects of those factors within and across levels. The practical objective of this work is enhanced effectiveness in the governance, administration, marketing, and policymaking for sport programs and sport systems. In this way, sport settings can be created and maintained in ways that assist the development of a wide range of individuals, groups, and communities.
